Job summary

CentraState Healthcare System is seeking a Full-Time Outreach Phlebotomist for the Day Shift in Freehold, NJ. The role covers patient service centers in Monmouth and Ocean counties, requiring travel and strong patient care skills.

You will collect blood specimens from all ages, label correctly, and prepare shipments to labs while handling physician orders and patient inquiries. A high school diploma and ASCP certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years' experience as ASCP-certified phlebotomy technician preferred (Outreach).
• Certification preferred.
• Proficient computer skills required for registering patients and ordering lab tests.
• Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens on young children to senior citizens through venipuncture, capillary fingerstick, or heelstick.
• Obtain blood according to lab policy and procedure with minimal bruising to patient.
• Label tubes appropriately with initials, date and time.
• Prepare specimens for shipment to testing labs.
• Interpret physician orders and perform computer order entry accurately.
• Properly instruct patients in specimen collection, e.g., clean catch urines.
