Job summary

Gandara Center is looking for an Outreach Coordinator to engage with the recovery community on Cape Cod and support peer-to-peer initiatives. The role includes coordinating recreational activities, guiding volunteers, and linking members to needed services.

The position requires strong communication, empathy, and the ability to work independently and with diverse groups. Flexible hours including some evenings and weekends are expected.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience
• Minimum 2 years in recovery
• Strong Communication and active listening skills
• Ability to build and establish meaningful relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and cultural competence.
• Comfortable engaging with community members, organizations,, and public audiences
• ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Oversee all the recreational activities at Pier Recovery Center of Cape Cod and other recovery-oriented social activities.
• Provide direction and support to volunteer members that are directly supervised by the Volunteer Coordinator.
• Provide information and referrals to assist members with needed services.
• Work Closely with Pier Recovery Center staff to connect recovery community members with volunteer programs.
• Conduct outreach to individuals within the recovery community, via recovery programs; jails, prisons, support networks and by attending networking events.
• Enhance community awareness through media outreach and by attending community events with Pier Recovery of Cape Cod information packets.
• Keep all required documentation up to date.
• Participate in an on-going collaboration with other programs providing educational, employment and medical support to people in recovery.
• Participate in workshops/trainings related to wellness and recovery engagement.
• Participate in support groups when needed.
• Participate in data collection for reporting and evaluation purposes.
• Participate in monthly supervision with Program Director.
• Be able to work flexible hours including weekends, nights and holidays.
• Additional duties as needed

Schedule

• Must be fliexible to work at least one evening per week
• Must be available to work one Saturday per month on a rotating schedule.
• Must be willing to travel throughout the local community and occasionally outside the Hyannis area to participate in outreach activities, events, and Center programs
