Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions –

  • Lead the operational management of the Hutchinson Community College McPherson/Newton Centers to include facility management, academic/CTE course scheduling and staff supervision.
  • Coordinate with Business & Industry and academic/CTE departments to facilitate enrollment growth at the McPherson/Newton Centers.
  • Supervise maintenance/custodial staff and the daily facility operations of the McPherson/Newton Centers.
  • Supervise student services staff including counseling, advising and proctoring provided at the McPherson/Newton Centers.
  • Plan and recommend academic/CTE credit and non-credit course schedules at the Newton/McPherson Centers to the Executive Director of Outreach, including the assignment of qualified instructors.
  • Provide assistance and support to academic/CTE faculty who teach at the McPherson/Newton Centers.
  • Conduct staff meetings and coordinate McPherson/Newton Centers events.
  • Co-Chair the McPherson/Newton Center Advisory Councils with the Associate Director of Outreach and ensure a strong cross section of regional advisory council participants to include business and educational partners.
  • Represent HutchCC to promote Newton/McPherson Outreach Centers through involvement with community-based organizations, chambers of commerce and economic development.
  • Create a student friendly atmosphere and encourage McPherson/Newton Center staff to provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Serve actively on campus committees.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures and practices.

Secondary –

  • Participate in academic advisor training.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Associate Director of Outreach and the Executive Director of Outreach as part of a collaborative leadership structure.

QUALIFICATIONS (Essential):

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills required.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships and work as a team member with a diverse population.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and changing demands with minimal direct supervision in a student-centered environment.
  • Computer literacy, including spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software preferred.
  • Physical requirements include excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12-months annual, benefit eligible, at-will and exempt.

HutchCC CSA Job Description Addendum:

  • Satisfy the duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA) relating to Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”) by:
    • Promptly reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes to the designated HutchCC official(s) in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures;
    • Completing any HutchCC provided CSA training regarding campus safety and crime reporting issues;
    • Assisting in the issuance of timely warnings and emergency notifications in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures;
    • Serving as a resource to students, employees, and others regarding crime prevention, reporting and victim assistance; and
    • Collaborating with the Coordinator of Campus Safety, the Coordinator of Equity & Compliance, and the Director of Human Resources, regarding campus safety and compliance issues.
    • A professional counselor, as designated by HutchCC and whose official responsibilities include providing mental health counseling to members of the HutchCC community, may be exempt from reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes when functioning within the scope of the counselor’s license or certification.
