Job Summary

The NSF Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Science (NSF CBIKS) seeks a Senior Coordinator to oversee broader impacts activities, including broadening participation, education, and knowledge transfer. Responsibilities include mentorship and skill development for postdocs and graduate students, community-building and cultural competency training, youth and community engagement design, and outreach strategy coordination.

Essential Functions
  1. Oversees NSF CBIKS’s Broader Impacts staff in implementing strategic plans for education, participation, and knowledge transfer, including research development, metrics, reporting, and evaluation.
  2. Provides leadership to CBIKS Directors, Leadership Circle, and research groups to ensure strategic plan implementation and research progress.
  3. Integrates broadening participation goals into research, education, and outreach activities, coordinating planning, metrics, reporting, dissemination, and evaluation per NSF requirements.
  4. Coordinates mentorship and skill-building activities for early-career cohorts, including trainings and network events.
  5. Develops training and communication materials on braiding methodologies, cultural competency, and science communication.
  6. Assists in seeking and applying for external funding to support outreach and participation goals.
  7. Designs recruitment and research engagement strategies across institutions.
  8. Develops outreach and network-building strategies, with evaluation tools to assess and improve outcomes.
  9. Builds strong relationships within NSF CBIKS to support goals and foster a positive center culture.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, natural sciences, education, or related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; experience working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Experience with outreach and public speaking.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s or PhD in relevant fields.
  • At least two years supervisory experience.
  • Experience in community-based participatory research and working with Indigenous communities.
  • Program development and evaluation experience.
Additional Details
  • Term-limited position, contingent on grant funding.
  • May supervise graduate and undergraduate assistants.
Work Schedule
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Salary
  • Level 27, Exempt.
