Job description

Definition of Service:

Outpatient Therapy provides clinical mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults with identified mental health or substance abuse diagnoses. This service is designed to meet the specific mental health needs of the client and can be provided in-office or other approved settings. It includes psycho-educational activities and interventions aimed at reducing dysfunction, delivered through client- and family-centered, goal-specific, and intensive, time-limited approaches.

Position Qualifications:

1. Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a clinical mental health discipline (e.g., Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, Marriage and Family Therapy), including coursework in behavioral health foundations and mental health services.
2. Licensed or licensed eligible (LMHP-R, LPC, LCSW, LMFT) in Virginia.
3. At least two years of verified experience in the mental health field.
4. Valid Child Abuse, Criminal History, and FBI clearances.
5. Participation in all mandatory UMHS in-services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with treatment providers and serve as a liaison to agencies, schools, and foster homes to ensure an integrated treatment approach.
2. Maintain clinical records in accordance with standards and policies.
3. Provide individual and family counseling to assigned caseload daily.
4. Complete all clinical documentation per company policy and record-keeping guidelines.
5. Identify problems, analyze data, generate solutions, and set goals.
6. Deliver quality therapy tailored to patient diagnoses and needs, including crisis intervention.
7. Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans.
8. Provide case management, education, referrals, and serve as a liaison for continuity of care.
9. Participate in supervision, peer review, and community outreach activities.
10. Maintain a caseload of at least 10 clients per week (part-time) or 30 clients (full-time).
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling field.
2. Resident in Counseling or Supervisee in Social Work; licensed preferred.
