Job summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (Outpatient) at Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI) provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders for patients 15 and older, in outpatient and inpatient settings in Indianapolis, IN.

Under supervision of medical direction, the SLP ensures medical necessity, documents outcomes, and contributes to a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team in a nationally recognized hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
• CCC-SLP certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
• Indiana state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Responsibilities

• Administers SLP evaluations for inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs, integrating age specific needs and issues for physical medicine rehabilitation population.
• Provides comprehensive assessment for adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairment per policy for inpatients or outpatients.
• Develops a patient-centered treatment plan for rehabilitation of patients based on the evaluation, patient goals and age-related issues/needs to optimize treatment and functional communication, cognition and/or swallowing.
• Ensures treatment plan supports medical necessity and incorporates evidence-based treatments and outcome measures.
• Accurately completes documentation to ensure a complete medical record that supports skilled services and medical necessity.
• Charges appropriately for services provided and documents outcome measures.
• Provides clinical supervision, including coordination of care and delegation of duties, to techs and students according to regulations.
