Job Summary

Greets patients and conducts daily interactions in a manner that demonstrates a positive organizational attitude, modeling the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Professionally interviews patients to obtain complete and accurate financial and insurance information. Verifies required authorizations as needed. Answers the telephone professionally and routes calls to the appropriate party. Acts as a liaison between the facility, physicians, insurance companies, and other healthcare agencies. Handles collections of monies from patients at the time of registration. Observes strict confidentiality with patient information. Schedules patient appointments and procedures. Verifies pain management benefits, insurance coverage, and obtains authorization for visits and/or procedures within Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Systems. Capable of assuming a supervisory role in the absence of the office manager. Excels in customer service.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous college or vocational training.
  • Ability to type 30-40 words per minute.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, third-party payers, and computer literacy with Windows-based programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, communicate courteously and professionally with the public, and handle difficult customers or situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize duties, and demonstrate initiative and self-direction.
