Description:

Accurately code Outpatient Surgery and Observation records for the classification of all diseases, injuries, procedures, and operations using the ICD10CM and CPT4 coding systems for BHSF facilities. Ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations according to regulatory agencies (CMS, OIG). Collaborate with team members to meet departmental and AR goals. Abstract prescribed data elements from medical records. The estimated pay range for this position is $26.50 - $34.45 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma, GED, certificate, training, or experience.
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist - CCS or RHIT certification.
• Required Coding Certificate; Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in same-day surgery coding.
• Knowledge of encoder systems, outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS), APCs, and Ambulatory Surgical Center payment system (ASC).
• Understanding of National and Local Coverage Determination (NCD and LCD) policies.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Effective communication skills with coworkers, management, and physicians.
• CCS certification required within 2 years of employment if not already certified, except for Boca entities.
