Job summary

Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ALSHP) seeks a Retail Pharmacist to practice outpatient pharmacy within a care transition model, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, compounding and dispensing prescribed medications, and supporting staff.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD with retail experience, current state licenses, and immunization certification as applicable. Strong communication and math skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD with 2 years of retail pharmacy experience.
• Current licenses in good standing to practice pharmacy in the appropriate state, Controlled Substance license and Immunization certification may also be required.
• Language Ability – Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to speak effectively to customers or other members of the organization.
• Mathematical Ability- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Reasoning Ability- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer Skills- Working knowledge and experience with pharmacy software, Microsoft Word, and the internet.

Responsibilities

• Retail Pharmacist will practice outpatient pharmacy in a model that integrates the pharmacy into the care transition model; ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for a single pharmacy, compounds and dispenses prescribed medications; and supports staff.
