Purpose And Scope

Functions as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team as a Staff Registered Nurse to ensure quality patient care according to FMS policies, procedures, and training. Supports the FMCNA’s mission, vision, values, and customer service philosophy. Participates in the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI activities, focusing on patient satisfaction and process improvements. Adheres to all FMCNA Compliance Program requirements and FMS policies.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective chronic hemodialysis therapy, supervising Patient Care Technicians and delegating tasks appropriately.
• Assess patient care needs, develop care plans, and monitor staff for adherence to procedures.
• Participate in staff training, orientation, and meetings.
• Educate patients and families on ESRD, dialysis therapy, diet, fluids, medications, and lab values.
• Adjust treatment prescriptions as needed, communicate with physicians, and document care accurately.
• Manage lab orders, specimen collection, and ensure proper documentation and shipment.
• Maintain a safe environment, including emergency procedures and infection control.
• Complete all required documentation, assessments, and CQI activities.
• Coordinate with healthcare team members and oversee medication administration and emergency readiness.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Involves heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and assisting with patient mobility. Work environment is a healthcare setting with potential exposure to infectious materials. Reasonable accommodations are available.

Education and Credentials

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state licensure.

Experience and Skills

• Preferred: 1+ year medical-surgical nursing experience, hemodialysis, ICU experience.
• Training in hemodialysis theory and practice, CPR certification, and ability to meet color blindness testing requirements.

The pay rate is $33.00 - $55.00 per hour, depending on location and experience.
