Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Department of Student Health and Wellness is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care in an outpatient setting on site in Charlottesville. You will assess patients, support medical evaluations, and follow established nursing processes to ensure quality care.

Two levels exist with differing experience requirements; Level 2 requires two years of RN experience, Level 3 requires five years.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients using nursing skills to evaluate vital signs, breath sounds, and other observations.
• Perform specific therapeutic interventions that assist medical evaluation.
• Read and synthesize information from patients' files to learn about conditions and prepare test requisitions.
• Communicate patient status and changes in patient condition and collaborate with nursing supervisor on complex issues.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
