Job summary

The Cowlitz Indian Tribe Health and Human Services department seeks an experienced Peer Support Specialist in Longview, WA 98632 to provide recovery-focused support within a fully integrated behavioral health program. Essential duties include helping clients set recovery goals, connecting to resources, advocating for services, and documenting progress per established policies; CPSS certification

Qualifications

• Hold an active Washington State CPSS certification.
• Self-identify as someone with lived mental health or substance use experience.
• One year of recovery coaching experience.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Obtain and maintain an Agency Affiliated Counselor credential.
• Experience with American Indian/Alaska Native communities preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Must pass background screening.

Responsibilities

• Assists clients in identifying, articulating, and creating recovery goals through 1-1 consultations and group sessions.
• Connects clients with in-house and external resources to support treatment plans.
• Advocates for clients to access necessary services and housing.
• Helps clients join and sustain participation in mutual support groups.
• Teaches problem-solving, coping strategies, and self-management skills.
• Documents progress and treatment plans promptly as required.
• Works collaboratively in a team to achieve shared goals and supports data collection.
