Job Summary

Under the supervision of Radiology Director or Medical Staff, performs diagnostic radiographic procedures on patients. Cleans and maintains equipment and prepares necessary reports and maintains records. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.

Job Qualifications
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent and graduate of an accredited program of Radiologic Technology preferred
  • Personal job-related skills: Knowledge of radiologic equipment and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Licensure, registry or certification: A current Texas license (CMRT) is required or current Texas state license practitioner.
  • Prior Work Experience: One year as a registered technologist preferred.
  • Technical Training: CPR training required. Training in the performance of/or additional training to be able to perform the following is preferred: CT exams with Triple Contrast Utilization, Bone Density Testing, Fluoroscopic procedures, Mammography, Magnetic Resonace Imaging. Proficient use of dry image processing systems, P.A.C.S., electrocardiograms, organizational skills of patient images, reports processing and exam scheduling. Exam/diagnosis coding preferred.
  • Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require moderate standing, walking, twisting, reaching and handling of instruments and equipment. Occasional heavy lifting is required, including lifting and supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision unless direct supervision is required.
  • Ensures the correct procedure is being performed on the patient.
  • Instructs and prepares patient for procedure and assures proper positioning.
  • Properly identifies images with corresponding patient file.
  • Transports patients to and from the department.
  • Provides care appropriate for the neonate and the pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Assesses and interprets data on neonate and the pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients’ status to identify patients’ requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.
  • Maintains equipment and necessary levels of radiology supplies.
  • Checks supply levels and informs Director of the need to reorder supplies when required.
  • Cleans equipment and practices sterile techniques.
  • Assists with prevention and periodic maintenance and reports equipment problems to the Director.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records as report scanning into P.A.C.S.
  • Maintains records of patient visits and statistics.
  • Processes charges (electronically) for procedures performed.
  • Prepares and maintains patient and department records and reports.
  • Proficient use of the P.A.C.S.
  • Consults with the Director, Medical Staff and Radiologist when required.
