Job summary

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician for the Outpatient Phlebotomy department. The role involves specimen procurement, processing, and support across on-site and off-site locations with a 24-hour capability and potential on-call duties.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, less than a year of relevant experience, and preferred CPT-ASCP certification with BLS if available. Day shift, 5:00am/6:00am starts, and weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Less than 1 year relevant experience is required.
• Phlebotomy-related certifications (e.g., CPT-ASCP) preferred upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in specimen procurement and processing.
• Works in on- and/or off-site service areas and may work a 24-hour period.
• Accepts on-call responsibilities as needed and may perform in-charge duties.
• Operates point-of-care laboratory instruments and maintains records.
• Transcribes orders, receives and processes specimens, and delivers to testing locations.
• Collects specimens as directed and enters data into computer files.
• Provides instructions to patients and verifies physician orders.
• Resolves billing problems and insurance updates.
