Job summary

UPMC - Pittsburgh Medical Center in Lemoyne, PA, seeks a full-time Outpatient Professional Staff Nurse (RN) to join the Children’s Specialty Services team. Shift is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm with no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months experience highly preferred.
• Knowledge of growth and development principles across the life span.
• Interest in public and community health is a plus.
• Experience working with populations with multiple social needs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care that promotes quality outcomes, patient safety, and satisfaction.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and develop individualized plans of care.
• Assess, triage, and manage patient needs while utilizing sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
• Assist providers with patient assessments, treatment plans, procedures, education, and follow-up care.
• Identify and address clinical, social, psychological, safety, and spiritual factors that may impact patient health and well-being.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and self-care needs through in-person, telephone, and written communication.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation that supports continuity of care and effective communication among providers.
• Serve as a patient advocate by helping individuals navigate healthcare needs, barriers to care, and available resources.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and utilize evidence-based practice to enhance patient care, safety, and outcomes.
• Support onboarding, development, and mentorship of students, new staff, and colleagues; foster a culture of learning and professional growth.
• Engage in shared governance and departmental goals to advance professional nursing practice.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, providers, and team members.
