Job Summary: Evaluates, directs, plans, and provides Occupational Therapy treatment for patients of all ages with a wide variety of disabilities to help them achieve a maximum level of functional independence. Documents patient care and treatment results appropriately in medical reports to comply with departmental policies and regulatory agencies.
Job Duties
- Evaluates, directs, plans, and provides Occupational Therapy treatment for patients of all ages.
- Adheres to all department-specific standards of care, clinical guidelines, and protocols as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.
- Completes assessments based on established standards, addressing the physical, social, and psychological needs of patients and their families.
- Performs assessments on all admissions and discharges.
- Forms a care plan based on identified patient issues in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team, including health education, family needs, and discharge planning.
- Sets realistic and achievable goals with specific time frames.
- Administers treatments according to priority and departmental procedures.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and revises the care plan based on patient responses or lack of progress.
- Coordinates patient care, discharge planning, and education through care conferences.
- Follows all safety precautions, special considerations, and contraindications appropriately.
- Provides education and instructions tailored to the patient's needs and treatment program.
- Documents evaluations, treatments, responses, discharge summaries, and education accurately and timely.
- Ensures patient equipment and therapy needs are met post-discharge when applicable.
- Supervises and directs care provided by other staff members.
- Assigns patients collaboratively with team members and adjusts assignments as needed.
- Contributes to departmental program development and participates in continuing education to maintain competence.
- Engages in community educational programs.
- Alerts the care team of emergencies and responds appropriately.
- Uses incident reports to address safety concerns.
Work is performed in a clinical environment. The role requires compliance with all organizational policies and procedures. Additional competencies outlined in department-specific orientation are essential for job performance.
Position Details
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- License/certification: Must hold a PA license in Occupational Therapy
