Job summary

BHMG Behavioral Health Richmond, KY is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic. You will take vitals, reconcile medications, collect patient history, and help manage patient flow and EPIC.

You may schedule appointments, handle prior authorizations, and coordinate tests and procedures to ensure efficient care. After competency is demonstrated, duties may include EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of one year of direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinic procedures.
• Upon hire, clinical competency assessment and MA orientation are required; those not meeting standards may enter MA Trainee Program for development.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and document patient history and medications.
• Reconcile medications and assist with clinical procedures.
• Manage EPIC and assist with scheduling, prior authorizations, and test coordination.
• Coordinate tests and procedures and process medication requests.
• May perform EKGs, laboratory tests, injections, or phlebotomy after competency is demonstrated.
• Maintain strong communication to support providers and patient flow.
