UTMB Health in Texas seeks an experienced Medical Assistant (Certified/Registered) to provide technical and supportive patient care in an outpatient clinic. You will assist with patient flow, respond to call lights, and perform venipuncture and routine tests in alignment with the care plan and policies.

Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, maintaining infection control, and documenting in patient records under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or program graduate required.
• CPR certification required.

Responsabilités

• Assist with patient flow in outpatient clinic setting.
• Respond to call-lights in a timely manner.
• Provide comfort measures to patient and family.
• Perform technical and supportive patient care per care plan and policies.
• Obtain vital signs and document chief complaint and visit reason.
• Use aseptic techniques and infection control measures.
• Collect specimens (urine, stool) and obtain blood samples via venipuncture.
• Perform tests (urine strips, guaiac, pH, glucose, UPT, hemocult).
• Record intake/output as ordered.
• Prepare and assist with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
• Communicate patient needs and unusual events to care team.
• Refill medications per physician guidelines and policies.
• Administer medications safely as assigned.
• Document interventions and communicate to providers.
• Complete documentation in patient records under supervision.
• Assist with medication reconciliation and maintain equipment/supplies.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and report equipment needs.
• Respect patient rights and maintain confidentiality.
• Engage in clinic meetings and ongoing education.
• Demonstrate confidentiality and professional conduct.
