Job summary

Geisinger offers outpatient clinics Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates. The position is a union role with 40 hours per week, primarily 8:00a‑4:30p (some rotation to 7:30a‑4:00p).

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the state of issuance.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Previous clinical experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families during diagnosis and treatment.
• Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and basic medical data for the provider.
• Assists provider with minor surgical diagnostic procedures, ancillary diagnostics, and preparation of patients for examinations.
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, completing associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with maximum accuracy.
• Documents patient communication, prioritizes communication to the provider, and responds to patient questions to ensure efficient use of provider time.
• Administers medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
• Cleans and sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring asepsis, instrument availability, and equipment readiness.
• Maintains a clean environment and promotes continuity and quality of care by ensuring timely completion and filing of diagnostic tests.
