Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to support outpatient care at the Giles Medical Office Building in Pearisburg, VA. You will perform patient assessments, prepare patients for provider evaluation, and assist with exams and procedures in a physician practice setting.

You will administer medications, document care in the EMR, educate patients, and help with referrals and pre-authorizations. The role emphasizes infection control, safety, and teamwork in a busy clinic.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program with Virginia LPN licensure.
• Experience not required; new graduates eligible.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments including vital signs and chief complaints.
• Prepare patients for provider evaluations and assist during exams.
• Administer medications and injections per provider instructions.
• Document patient information accurately in the EMR and note treatment updates.
• Provide patient education on medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Assist with referrals and pre-authorizations for tests and services.
• Maintain clean and safe exam, treatment, and lab areas; ensure supplies are available.
• Assist with radiology-related tasks as applicable and practice safety procedures.
• Support telehealth services setup where applicable.
