Carilion Clinic is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for outpatient duties at the Giles Medical Office Building in Pearisburg, VA.

You will provide nursing support in a clinic setting, perform patient assessments, prepare patients for exams, administer medications, and document in the EMR under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or a new graduate eligible to sit for Virginia licensure.
• Experience: None.
• Current LPN licensure in Virginia required. Limited Radiologic Technician license required for radiology roles.
• Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Strong customer service orientation. Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to problem solve and communicate with a wide range of individuals. Proficiency with EMR and computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Provides practical nursing support under physician/APP direction in a clinic setting.
• Performs patient assessments: vitals, chief complaint, med reconciliation.
• Prepares patients for provider eval, collects specimens, assists during exams.
• Administers meds/injections as directed.
• Documents patient information in EMR accurately and timely.
• Provides patient education on meds, treatments, follow-up care.
• Assists with referral/pre-authorizations for tests/services.
• Maintains clean, safe exam/lab areas and available supplies.
• Performs lab tasks per training/standards.
• Assists with imaging procedures and safety compliance.
• Supports telehealth services as applicable.

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare: This position is located at the Giles Medical Office Building in Pearisburg, VA, working full time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm or 7:45am-4:45pm.

The LPN Outpatient

• Provides practical nursing support under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider in a clinic setting.
• Performs patient assessments, including vital signs, chief complaint, and medication reconciliation.
• Prepares patients for provider evaluation, including specimen collection, positioning, and assistance during exams and procedures.
• Administers medications and injections as directed by the provider.
• Documents patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, including treatment updates, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.
• Provides patient education related to medications, treatments, and follow-up care as directed by the provider.
• Assists with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for tests and ancillary services.
• Maintains exam, treatment, and lab areas in a clean and safe condition and ensures supplies and equipment are available.
• Performs laboratory-related tasks as applicable, including specimen collection, preparation, and basic testing following appropriate training and quality standards.
• Performs radiology-related tasks as applicable, including assisting with imaging procedures and ensuring proper safety precautions and documentation.
• Adheres to infection control, safety standards, and proper handling and disposal of specimens and materials.
• Supports telehealth services, including tele-retinal and tele-dermatology setup as applicable.

What We Require:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or a new graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.
• Experience:None.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Limited Radiologic Technician license required for roles performing radiology functions.
• Life Support: Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Strong customer service orientation. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals. Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems.

Compensation Range:

$21.61 - $30.25

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
