Job summary

Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide outpatient ambulatory and home nursing services under supervision.

This role focuses on coordinating services, educating patients, and promoting preventive care within the clinic’s scope of practice. Qualified candidates must have a Michigan LPN license, complete a background check and pre-employment drug testing, and be able to work with minimal supervision while ensuring patient confidentiality

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; must graduate from a Practical Nursing Program.
• Licensure: LPN license in Michigan; background check and drug screen; good moral character.
• Knowledge: HIPAA, infection control, and scope of practice required.
• Skills: Nursing theory, patient education, documentation in EHR, and safe clinical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care within the assigned workload.
• Assists in writing and implementing Nursing/Health Division policies and procedures.
• Ensures safety and well-being of clients.
• Prepares patients and equipment for appointments and assists providers as needed.
• Identifies patients needing attention and coordinates with medical team for care.
• Operates, monitors, and maintains autoclave, instruments, sterilization and equipment.
• Administers PO, IM, SQ, ID, IV medications and immunizations as ordered.
• Monitors and orders medical supplies and equipment.
• Plans and initiates nursing actions based on assessments.
