Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Clerk - Outpatient Lab to support patient processing across accessioning, verification, and data entry in a fast-paced clinical laboratory setting.

The successful candidate will handle physician requisitions, verify demographics and tests, route patients to finance and phlebotomy, and maintain organized requisitions and patient data in the computer system.

Qualifications

• Effective oral, written, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of personal computer; ability to type 35 wpm.
• One year of full-time work experience in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Process physician requisitions; verify demographics and requested tests.
• Secure physician signature and/or prescription form; direct patients to finance and phlebotomy.
• Sort and distribute mail within the Medical Center.
• Carry out errands as instructed; transport materials to correct locations.
• Answer telephone according to lab protocol; identify department clearly.
• Take messages accurately; transfer calls to the correct person.
• Maintain doctors and pre-accession requisitions; file and organize for retrieval.
• Enter and verify patient data in the computer per procedures; follow supervisor instructions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
