Additional Information About the Role

  • 4/9 Hour Shifts (36 Hours/week)
  • Work hours: 9 am – 6:30 pm Monday – Friday
  • No Weekends, Holidays or Call
  • Oncology experience required
  • Up to $15,000 Sign-On Bonus
  • Located on the 13th Floor in the Center for Advanced Medicine

Overview

The Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine is a leader in cancer treatment, research, prevention, education, and outreach. It holds the prestigious Comprehensive Cancer Center designation from the National Cancer Institute and membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, serving as the only such center in Missouri and within a 240-mile radius of St. Louis. The outpatient Women's Chemo Infusion Center provides specialized care for women with gynecologic cancers, offering chemotherapy in a safe, compassionate, and timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities
  1. Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing their illness or injury, including post-treatment home care and medication administration.
  2. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
  3. Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with defined goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver, in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Ensures communication of the care plan across the continuum.
  4. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Considers patient preferences, values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
  5. This is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is essential.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience: None required
  • Licenses & Certifications: RN license
