Job summary

ASAC in Iowa is seeking a qualified counselor to conduct comprehensive substance use evaluations and collaborate with partners for in-person and telehealth assessments for incarcerated patients. The role includes leading group counseling sessions and helping develop individualized treatment plans in coordination with the clinical team.

Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in counseling/psychology/social work and CADC/tCADC credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive substance use evaluations for new patients to determine level of care.
  • Collaborate with community partners to conduct evaluations in person and via telehealth for incarcerated patients.
  • Lead group counseling sessions, providing education, support, and guidance in a group setting.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team on patients' individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Maintain confidential records of patient sessions and progress notes in compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Provide urinalysis monitoring as needed.

Job description

Key Duties:
  • Conduct comprehensive substance use evaluations for new patients to determine their individual needs and the level of care required.
  • Collaborate with community partners to conduct evaluations in person and via telehealth for incarcerated patients.
  • Complete engagement activities and partner with Supervisor to ensure patients exiting incarceration are assigned a regular Counselor upon release.
  • Lead group counseling sessions for patients; providing education, support, and guidance in a supportive group setting.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team on patients’ individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, outlining specific goals and objectives.
  • Maintain timely, accurate and confidential records of patient sessions, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and group attendance records, in compliance with agency policies and regulations.
  • Provide urinalysis monitoring on an as needed basis.
Requirements

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field, and a tCADC or CADC. Knowledge of substance use disorders, addiction treatment modalities, and group counseling techniques is preferred.

Salary and Benefits

ASAC offers competitive compensation packages. This role starts at $24.07 with additional compensation for candidates with extensive experience.
