Position: Outpatient Coder

We are seeking experienced and credentialed outpatient coders to join our team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with strong medical terminology knowledge. This fully remote role offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to impact healthcare from your own workspace.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must have CCS certification
• Experience with EPIC, 3M360 (a plus)
• Same day surgery and observation experience
• Specialized experience in plastics, mastectomy and reconstruction, spinals, and orthopedics
• Knowledge of revenue code assignment

Responsibilities

1. Review medical records and assign accurate diagnoses and procedure codes
2. Sequence codes correctly based on documentation
3. Assign appropriate discharge dispositions
4. Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting
5. Communicate documentation and coding issues effectively
6. Maintain a 95% accuracy rate in coding and APC assignment
7. Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials
8. Participate in educational meetings and in-services
9. Demonstrate initiative, judgment, professionalism, and teamwork
10. Adhere to relevant ethical and policy standards

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills
• AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, etc.)
• Experience with coding software and specialties
• Ability to pass annual HIPAA and other testing
• Minimum of 2 years hospital or consulting coding experience

Additional Details

Pay ranges from $20 to $35 per hour, depending on experience and location. Post-offer health screenings and vaccinations are required. This role is not eligible for sponsorship.
