Job summary

Cullman Regional is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to analyze medical records and assign diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with coding guidelines. This role supports the hospital revenue cycle and emphasizes patient/guest experiences and safety.

The position requires completion of an approved medical coding program and certifications (CCA, CCS, RHIT, RHIA) along with at least one year of related experience, and strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Completion of medical coding program from an approved health information technology program.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), RHIT, or RHIA certifications.
• Minimum one year of experience in medical coding or related role.

Responsibilities

• Analyze medical records to assign diagnosis codes following coding guidelines.
• Analyze medical records to assign procedure codes following coding guidelines.
• Perform analysis of medical records to perform medical record abstraction.
• Assist in the hospital revenue cycle.
• Demonstrate teamwork and promote excellent patient/guest experiences.
• Uphold patient safety and quality standards.
