Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a capable Nursing Assistant to support patient care in outpatient clinics. You will assist providers during exams, operate diagnostic equipment, and ensure smooth patient flow and safety throughout visits.

Under RN oversight, you will help with procedures, prepare rooms and instruments, and maintain supplies while providing compassionate care and clear information to patients about next steps.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers during exams.
• Attaches patient to diagnostic equipment (EKG, pulse oximeter, monitors).
• Provides information and comfort to patients during exams.
• Ensures supplies and equipment are available for exams.
• Manages room utilization to minimize patient wait times.
• Obtains vital signs and performs diagnostic testing per provider order.
• Enters patient data into electronic medical record systems.
• Maintains equipment and stock; coordinates with purchasing if back orders occur.
• Implements infection prevention measures as per protocol.
• Precepts new staff under RN oversight.
• Assists with surgical procedures as needed and prepares rooms and instruments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
