Performs patient specimen analysis for diagnostic purposes under the direct supervision of a medical technologist. Enters all results into the computer system and brings panic value test results to the attention of the medical technologist and/or pathologist. Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing various equipment and work areas in the laboratory. Department responsibilities will be assigned based on competence and judgment under the supervision of a medical technologist. Depending on competence, processes specimens in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, and the blood bank. Assists in the overall efficiency of the laboratory by performing other duties as needed for patient care.

Demonstrates the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, maintain accuracy, and adapt to constantly changing situations. Shows the ability to interact effectively with a variety of people, handle stressful situations, and resolve conflicts.

Performs all job duties or tasks as assigned, following all requirements, regulations, and procedures of relevant licensing boards or agencies. Must comply with all Benefis Health System policies and procedures.

Education/License/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates Degree in Science preferred
  • Montana Certification/Licensure as a Medical Technician
