Job summary

Children's Health in Dallas seeks an experienced RN for the Outpatient Clinic Float Pool. This full-time, on-site role supports ambulatory services across the enterprise and requires strong clinical judgment to develop and implement care plans for pediatric patients.

Responsibilities include coordinating care, education, collaboration with physicians, and maintaining accurate PHI documentation. A BSN and Texas RN license with BLS are required, with pediatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year RN experience required.
  • Pediatric RN experience preferred.
  • Four-year BSN degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Prescribes, delegates and coordinates patient care with clinical judgment.
  • Ensures patient safety, rights and satisfaction in care delivery.
  • Oversees and coordinates care by the patient care team.
  • Educates patients, families and staff with cultural sensitivity.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other professionals to plan and implement care.
  • Advocates for patient and family concerns and ethical issues.
  • Documents all encounters in EPIC accurately and securely.
  • Adheres to infection prevention and PHI protection policies.
  • Delivers competent care with teamwork and evidence-based practice.

Job Type: On-Site

Summary

Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Also works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient’s situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care with the aim of promoting comfort.
  • Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
  • Oversees care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
  • Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and patient care team in a way that demonstrates sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care that promotes each person’s contributions toward the best patient outcomes.
  • Advocates for the patient, represents patient/family concerns, and helps resolve ethical and clinical issues.
  • Accurately and thoroughly documents all patient encounters in EPIC.
  • Ensures that Patient Health Information (PHI) is protected and secured at all times.
  • Adheres to all infection prevention initiatives such as hand hygiene and proper waste disposal.
  • Delivers competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs.
  • Delivers care with a team‑orientation, good customer relations, sound clinical judgement, and evidence‑based decision making.
Work Experience
  • At least 1 year RN experience Required
  • At least 1 year Pediatric RN experience Preferred
Education
  • Four‑year Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas Required
  • BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association Required
