Datavant is seeking an experienced Outpatient Claim Edits coder to join our remote HB coding team. The role focuses on hospital billing claim edits, APC assignment, and accuracy targets, with equipment provided and a flexible schedule.
Your work will involve reviewing records, assigning codes, and maintaining 95% accuracy while meeting productivity benchmarks. AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 3+ years HB Edits experience are required.
This Outpatient Claim Edits Coder role at Datavant sits at the intersection of healthcare data and revenue cycle management — a niche that remains in consistent demand as hospitals and health systems navigate complex billing environments.
Compensation: The $20–$35/hr range ($41,600–$72,800 annually) is broadly in line with market rates. Entry-level remote coders typically earn $18–$24/hr; experienced HB Claim Edits specialists with Parallon/Cerner expertise can command $28–$38/hr. The upper end of this range is competitive for fully remote work.
Green flags: Free CEUs, an education stipend for AHIMA/AAPC dues, equipment provided, and mentorship from a credentialed coding manager are all strong indicators of a company that invests in coder development. Datavant is a well-funded, growth-stage health data company — this provides relative job stability compared to smaller coding firms.
Watch for: The 95% accuracy rate KPI is standard in the industry but demanding. Productivity benchmarks are site-designated, so expectations may vary by client. The role is specialized enough that it may not offer a clear path into broader health IT or data analytics without additional certifications.
