Job summary

Valley Hope is seeking an Outpatient Addiction Counselor / Therapist (LMAC, LPC, LMSW, LMFT) for a full-time, on-site role in Overland Park/Leawood, KS. The position requires a Master’s degree in behavioral sciences, education, or social work and licensure to practice in the state, with a minimum of one year of behavioral health counseling or case management experience.

CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual and group counseling, educational lectures to patients and families.
• Develops, revises, and implements treatment plans.
• Performs assessments and prepares bio-psycho-social summaries.
• Develops patient progress reports and follow-up care.
• Provides clinical consultation to referral resources and care teams.
• Maintains current knowledge of counseling procedures and guidelines.
• Records treatment activities in patient records accurately and timely.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Master’s degree in behavioral sciences, education or social work.
• License or credential to function as an alcohol and drug treatment counselor in the state in which the Counselor is working.
• One (1) year of behavioral healthcare clinical counseling or clinical case management work experience.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification; or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Preferred:

• Three (3) plus years of behavioral healthcare clinical counseling or clinical case management work experience.

COMPENSATION:

• Starting salary range $65,000 - $80,000 (based on education and experience)
• $25 shift incentive for each completed shift worked that extends beyond 7pm.

JOB SUMMARY:

• Provides individual and group counseling, therapeutic intervention, and educational lectures to patients and family members to assist them in recognizing problems and causal factors related to substance abuse and developing alternative/coping behaviors.
• Develops, revises, and implements treatment plans.
• Performs assessments of patients’ needs, motivations, and backgrounds; prepares substance abuse bio-psycho-social/assessment summaries.
• Develops patient progress reports and establishes follow-up care for patients and their families as needed.
• Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, mentors, family members, and others to help support patients in their recovery.
• Maintains and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable counseling procedures and substance abuse treatment in accordance with company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
• Collects and reviews referral information upon assignment of patients and consults with others as needed to support coordination of services.
• Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely;

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Outpatient treatment facility setting; requires walking throughout the facility.
