Job description

This position’s key responsibilities include:

  • Provides exceptional customer service at all times. Greets all customers on arrival within 10 seconds. Thanks all customers upon exit of the store and asks them to visit again. Answer phone calls by providing world class customer service. Achieves a passing score on monthly mystery shop audits.
  • Operates the POS to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and information codes on merchandise. Adheres to the Agency’s Cash Handling Policies and Processes.
  • Welcomes customers to participate in a Change Round Up to the nearest dollar to further support our missions.
  • Maintains a clean, neat and organized sales floor. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning front doors, counters, floors and glass, cleaning bathrooms and dressing rooms, dusting fixtures, returning shopping carts, baskets and unsold merchandise to the proper areas.
  • Assists the management team in training new cashiers while leading by example.
  • Adheres to all Agency Policies and Procedures; follows good safety practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Retail Store Manager.
  • Maintains security, relating to theft or pilferage and handling of cash receipts, according to Agency Policies and Procedures.
  • Supports the stocking and maintenance of the sales floor, and cash wraps in a neat, always organized and clean condition.
  • Assists in the rotation of merchandise on sales floor as needed.
  • Assists with quality and safety control assurance.
  • Maintains established productivity goals without loss of quality of work.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS (The stuff you must have)

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • Six (6) months of cash handling experience preferred.
  • Requires reading, writing, and math skills which include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • If hired full time, you would be required to attend a full-day orientation at our Administration Office location in Buffalo.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to stand, reach, grasp, twist, and bend on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move up to ten (10) pounds with no support regularly when performing cash handling duties.
  • When business needs require performance of sales floor tasks, must be able to lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move up to twenty-five (25) pounds with no support regularly.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without an accommodation.

COMPENSATION:

Goodwill regularly evaluates our compensation and benefit packages to ensure we remain competitive. Starting pay will be based on a candidate’s experience, skills and education.

  • The pay range for this position is $15.50/hr -- $16/hr.
