Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries is seeking an energetic Outlet Shift Supervisor for the Bannister location in Kansas City. The role focuses on supervising staff, delivering outstanding donor and customer service, and ensuring smooth daily operations.

You will train employees, handle scheduling, and maintain compliance with company policies while upholding the mission of Changing Lives Through the Power of Work. This is an hourly full-time position with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; no degree required.
• 1 year of management or retail/warehouse experience.
• Valid MO or IL driver’s license and insurance.
• Excellent customer service, communication, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
• Leadership, decision-making, motivation, goal-setting and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable with registers, scheduling, and inventory software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their duties.
• Provide superior customer service to donors, shoppers, and staff; de-escalate dissatisfaction.
• Coach employees regarding performance, including discipline when needed.
• Assign daily duties and manage payroll-related tasks.
• Identify candidates for advancement based on performance.
• Safeguard company property and report any issues to management.
• Follow all agency policies and maintain professional appearance.
• Support staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
• Promote routine process improvements to reduce waste.

Qualifications

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill's dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
