Job Summary

Assist the Outlet Supervisor with daily operations. Responsible for store operations in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor. Perform duties of Outlet Sales Associate.

Essential Duties
  1. Oversee basic Outlet operations in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor (including making daily bank deposits), ensuring Outlet staff deliver customer service according to defined procedures.
  2. Provide guidance to staff on sales questions or issues; inform Outlet Supervisor or designee of personnel-related problems.
  3. Organize the store by stocking and placing merchandise.
  4. Maintain a neat, clean, and safe working and shopping environment by following good housekeeping practices.
  5. Assist customers by helping them find merchandise and/or carrying their paid merchandise to their vehicles (not including loading into vehicles).
  6. Report any problems or complaints to the Outlet Supervisor.
  7. Remove or sort unsold merchandise for recycling or disposal, as appropriate.
  8. Perform opening and closing procedures as required.
  9. Perform cashier duties as requested.
  10. Greet customers entering the outlet and thank them as they leave.
Secondary Duties

Perform related duties as assigned.

Job Specification
  • Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience Required: Minimum six months retail sales experience required; “as-is” retail experience preferred.
  • License/Certification Required: Completion of forklift certification within 90 days of hire/placement.
Knowledge Required
  • Basic math ability.
  • Familiarity with electronic cash registers, company policies, and retail procedures (may be learned on-the-job).
  • Understanding of Goodwill Central Coast’s mission and policies (may be learned on-the-job).
Skills, Aptitudes, and Temperaments
  • Effective communication in English; basic Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to instruct new employees and make quick, confident decisions.
  • Ability to perform multiple duties efficiently, demonstrating high energy and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to learn and perform operational procedures and supervise cash register functions.
  • Ability to drive a forklift (training and certification within 90 days).
  • Ability to price merchandise accurately and coordinate safe handling of items.
  • Good judgment, safety awareness, and regular attendance.
Work Environment

Work is performed in a large warehouse and outdoor area, with exposure to dust, odors, fumes, and noise. The environment is not climate-controlled, and work involves standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating equipment. The job may require overtime during high activity periods.

Physical Demands

Steady pace with constant standing and walking. Moderate to heavy lifting, with safe handling procedures. Physical activities include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
