Summary:
Cashier III's are responsible for maintaining excellent customer service, cash register operations, sales floor functions, and safeguarding company assets in an accurate and efficient manner. Assist supervisory staff in store operation by performing assigned advanced tasks and providing leadership to assigned personnel. Must successfully pass credit and background check.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three months related experience and/or training.

Demonstrated knowledge of merchandise, cash register operation and change-making skills. Able to communicate effectively using tact and courtesy. Must demonstrate outgoing, pleasant personality and appropriate grooming and hygiene.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Must demonstrate willingness and ability to adhere to all Goodwill's policies and procedures, CARF standards, Kaizen guidelines, safety and security regulations.
  • Foster and demonstrate a positive team environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by acknowledging, assisting and thanking customers.
  • Perform register tasks including verifying funds, accurately counting down register, maintaining cleanliness and stocking register areas.
  • Accurately perform all register operations in compliance with Goodwill over and short policy.
  • Collect payments, make change and provide receipts.
  • Maintain store appearance to Goodwill standards including sales floor and parking lot.
  • Accurately and efficiently follow Goodwill merchandising standards, i.e. product placement and stock rotation.
  • Follow proper phone etiquette and use paging system.
  • Follow all Goodwill loss prevention procedures.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties, as assigned.

Cashier Responsibilities:

  • Resolve customer issues in compliance with Goodwill policies and procedures.
  • Train employees in a thorough, organized, and timely manner.
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of work performed by designated cashiers is in accordance with company policy.
  • Responsible, as designated, for directing the activities of store personnel; ensuring that all sales transactions are rung up and reported accurately.
  • Provide feedback to supervisory staff on cashier employee performance.
  • Assist supervisory staff with implementation of customer service, cash control, inventory control, and security procedures.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Work cooperatively with other lead workers to support the supervisory staff and the productivity of the store.

Incidental Functions:

  • Rotate merchandise tables and price and move furniture.
  • Erase data from donated computers according to established procedure.
  • Scan and sort donated books.

Additional Functions:

  • Follow all policies, procedures, and directives of Goodwill Industries assuring safety of personnel or property.
  • Work collaboratively with Workforce & Family Services to provide client services.
  • Properly wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain agency confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality is cause for immediate dismissal.
  • Comply with all health, safety and fire standards and all local, state and federal regulations (WISHA & OSHA).
  • Other duties as assigned.
