Job summary

CPS Outdoors in Miami Beach, FL is seeking an experienced Outdoor Design & Drafting Manager to lead the design development and documentation of complete outdoor environments, including pools, spas, water features, patios, hardscape, and outdoor living spaces. You will work with clients, architects, and internal teams to develop cohesive designs that complement the property.

You will oversee the drafting team, manage schedules, ensure quality, and mentor staff while maintaining CAD and BIM

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Outdoor Design & Drafting Manager to lead the design development and documentation of complete outdoor environments, including swimming pools, spas, water features, patios, hardscape, outdoor living areas, landscape coordination, and related site elements.

This role will work directly with clients, architects, landscape designers, consultants, and internal teams to develop cohesive outdoor designs that complement the architecture and surrounding property. The position will guide projects from initial concepts through design development and construction documentation.

The Outdoor Design & Drafting Manager will also oversee the day-to-day drafting team, including project schedules, distribution, drafting standards, quality control, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with clients and project teams to understand project goals, design preferences, site conditions, and overall vision.
• Develop and refine complete outdoor environments, including pools, spas, water features, patios, hardscape, outdoor living spaces, and related site features.
• Apply strong design principles including proportion, scale, circulation, sightlines, spatial relationships, materials, and the connection between the home and outdoor spaces.
• Create and review design concepts, 3D models, renderings, and visual presentations to communicate design intent and support client approvals.
• Lead projects from conceptual design through design development and construction documentation.
• Manage drafting operations, including project assignments, schedules, workload, priorities, deadlines, and resource planning.
• Review drawings and models for design quality, accuracy, coordination, constructability, and compliance with company standards.
• Maintain and improve AutoCAD and Revit standards, templates, details, workflows, and drafting procedures.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, landscape designers, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve design and technical issues.
• Lead, mentor, and develop drafting staff while promoting accountability, collaboration, efficiency, and consistent quality.
  

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of architectural and outdoor design principles, including proportion, scale, circulation, spatial relationships, materials, and overall composition.
• Ability to design cohesive outdoor environments that integrate architecture, landscape, hardscape, aquatic features, and outdoor living spaces.
• Experience in architectural, landscape, engineering, construction, or outdoor residential design and documentation.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD with experience in Revit, 3D modeling, and rendering workflows.
• Strong visualization skills with the ability to develop and present design concepts through plans, 3D models, and renderings.
• Experience with swimming pools, spas, water features, hardscape, outdoor living spaces, or related site design preferred.
• Strong client communication and presentation skills with the ability to confidently lead design and coordination meetings.
• Demonstrated leadership with the ability to manage staff, schedules, workloads, priorities, and multiple projects.
• Strong design judgment, creativity, organization, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
• Proactive, reliable, and adaptable with the ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
