Job summary

Eckerd Connects is seeking a Youth Counselor for the Boys Residential Academy at Boomer, NC. This role focuses on guiding at-risk youth through therapeutic programs, with a strong emphasis on cognitive behavioral techniques and goal achievement.

The position requires outdoor activity, supervision during evening/overnight hours, and engagement in a structured residential setting. The role offers an hourly rate of $17.51, with benefits including health insurance, PTO, and retirement options;

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older per DJJ guidelines.
• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years' relevant experience working with youth; Bachelor's preferred.
• Direct care in a therapeutic/rehabilitative setting preferred.
• Able to travel on property, through wilderness terrain; pass crisis intervention/physical restraint certification exam; aquatic ability.
• Valid driver's license; able to drive for business; Eckerd Auto Insurance requirements.
• Must pass a drug screen per policy.

Responsibilities

• A positive, supportive role model who guides and influences group activities, ensuring welfare of clients and group.
• Lead groups and provide counseling with strength-based development; use cognitive behavioral approaches to help youth set and reach goals.

Education
