Job summary

Eckerd Connects operates a short-term juvenile justice residential program for at-risk youth in Boomer, North Carolina. The Youth Counselor will guide groups, provide counseling, and supervise activities to support youths’ growth in a safe outdoor setting.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, strength-based approaches with opportunities for leadership development; ideal candidates have 2+ years experience with youth and a passion for positive change.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older per DJJ guidelines.
• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years' relevant experience; Bachelor's degree in social/behavioral services or outdoor recreation preferred; 2+ years of college in a social or human services field can substitute youth experience.
• Direct care in a therapeutic/rehabilitative setting preferred.
• Ability to travel on property and through wilderness terrain; pass crisis intervention/physical restraint certification; participate in aquatic activities.
• Must meet Eckerd's auto insurance requirements and have a valid driver's license; must pass a drug screen.
