Job summary

Eocene Environmental Group, Inc. is seeking a Consulting Utility Forester to work outdoors with utility clients, property owners, and contractors. You will assess vegetation, plan work, and help ensure safe, reliable power delivery while supporting environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

  • Degree in forestry or related field (preferred).
  • Species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills a priority.
  • Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
  • Proficient in map navigation skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software (GIS experience a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Contact property owners & public agencies regarding pruning/removals.
  • Conduct tree and brush inventories.
  • Conduct hazard tree inspections and evaluations.
  • Plan work for tree contractors.
  • Gather and manage field data; including tree species, size, and distance from conductors.
  • Validate data across various database systems to ensure reporting is accurate.
  • Verify that summaries and charts reflect underlying datasets.
  • Safeguard employees and public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Enforce on-the-job safety practices.
  • Carry and utilize materials, tools, and equipment at the work site.
  • Service trucks and equipment, keep trucks and other assigned equipment neat and orderly.
