Job summary

Weber State University is seeking an Outdoor Program - Rental Center Specialist to manage and maintain equipment fleets at the OP Rental Center. The role requires strong knowledge of outdoor gear, customer service, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Collaboration with the OP Coordinator and student rentals manager is essential. Ideal candidates have experience with equipment maintenance, adherence to shop policies, and the ability to work independently, including occasional nights/weekends.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of outdoor equipment and its use.
• Experience maintaining and repairing a variety of outdoor equipment.
• Familiarity with the OP Rental Shop policies and procedures.
• American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and standard First Aid Certifications.
• Ability to work on independent projects and take initiative.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Ability to stand or be on your feet for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, and/or wet conditions.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to supplement learning experience with individual research and application.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and relational service skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain equipment fleets at the OP Rental Center.
• Research and implement best practices related to gear maintenance.
• Assist with preparation and management of the annual gear sale.
• Assist with the bi-annual inventory process.
• Develop potential training/workshops for rental technicians.
• Provide general instructions on the use of outdoor equipment to staff or customers.
• Work closely with the OP Coordinator and the student manager of OP Rentals.
• Present ideas and projects to managers/coordinators and help implement them.
