Job summary

Underwood & Associates, Inc. is seeking a dependable Field Technician to join our ecological restoration construction team in Millersville. This hands-on outdoor role involves living shorelines, stream restoration, stormwater, wetlands, and other environmental projects across Maryland.

Expect physically demanding work outdoors ~50 hours/week with overtime at applicable rates. Travel to sites around Central Maryland is required; bilingual English/Spanish candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• Be willing and able to perform physically demanding manual labor throughout the workday.
• Be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
• Be able to work approximately 50 hours per week, including overtime.
• Be dependable and report to work consistently and on time.
• Be willing to travel to project sites throughout Maryland as needed.
• Be able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a construction crew.
• Have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Be able to work safely around construction equipment and active job sites.
• Have reliable transportation to the required reporting location or job site.
• Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor on ecological restoration construction sites.
• Install native plants, trees, shrubs, plugs, and other vegetation.
• Move and place soil, stone, logs, erosion-control materials, and other construction materials.
• Use shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, hand tools, power tools, and other construction equipment.
• Assist with construction of living shorelines, stream restoration projects, stormwater facilities, wetlands, and other nature-based infrastructure.
• Install erosion and sediment control measures.
• Load, unload, carry, and organize materials and equipment.
• Perform site cleanup and general maintenance.
• Assist equipment operators and other members of the construction crew.
• Follow instructions from foremen, project managers, and other supervisors.
• Follow company and job-site safety requirements.
• Perform other field and construction duties as needed.
