Staffing Network is seeking a dependable, customer-focused individual for the role of Customer Service / Yard Helper in Hayward, CA. This temp-to-hire position combines front-line customer service with hands-on yard and equipment support.

The role involves greeting customers, assisting with equipment pickups/returns, yard organization, safety compliance, and basic paperwork. Outdoor duties require reliability and a willingness to work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, warehouse, construction, equipment rental, or outdoor work experience is helpful but not required.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials as required.
• Comfortable working around construction and rental equipment.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.
• Computer skills (Excel, Microsoft, Outlook, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, professional service.
• Assist customers with equipment pickups and returns.
• Inspect rental equipment for cleanliness, damage, and general condition upon return.
• Help load and unload equipment safely from customer vehicles and rental trucks.
• Move and organize rental equipment throughout the yard.
• Clean, wash, fuel, and prepare equipment for rental.
• Assist with basic equipment checks and report any damage or mechanical issues to the appropriate team member.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and work area.
• Help customers understand basic equipment operation and safety procedures when appropriate.
• Answer customer questions and direct customers to the appropriate rental or service representative.
• Complete paperwork, rental documentation, and other basic administrative tasks as needed.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Assist coworkers with daily branch operations and other duties as assigned.
