Job summary

A marine science educational program in Ocean Pines, Maryland, is seeking Support Staff for its summer program running from mid-June through early September. Responsibilities include assisting Lead Scientists in marine science lessons, caring for attendees, and overseeing program materials. Candidates should be passionate about conservation, ideally have a degree in a related field, and possess communication and organizational skills. Availability until late August is required. Housing is not provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Scientists in conducting engaging lessons on marine science.
• Care for attendees with varying abilities throughout the program.
• Set up and organize program materials and supplies.
• Foster a positive learning environment for participants.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver educational experiences.
• Lead small groups in outdoor settings when necessary.
• Ensure participant safety throughout the program.

Availability

• Programs run from mid-June through early September.
• Required participation for the entire duration of the program, typically Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-2:00 pm.
• Applicants must be available until mid to late August.
• Note: We are unable to provide housing at this time.

Responsibilities

• Support Staff will assist Lead Scientists in conducting engaging lessons, activities, and discussions focused on marine science and conservation.
• Support Staff will help care for attendees with a range of both physical and mental abilities, working independently with attendees if needed.
• Support Staff will oversee the setup, maintenance, and organization of program materials and supplies.
• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment for program participants.
• Work collaboratively with team members to deliver high-quality educational experiences.
• Adapt to varying outdoor settings and independently lead small groups when necessary.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of participants throughout the program.
