Job summary

The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) in Gorham, New Hampshire, seeks an experienced outdoor education professional to coordinate A Mountain Classroom programs for partner schools. You will plan curricula, schedule activities, and ensure instruction aligns with teachers’ goals while communicating clearly with educators and AMC staff.

You will lead field programs in outdoor settings, supervise staff, manage logistics for day-long and overnight trips, and adapt to a fast-paced schedule, including

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in Environmental Education, Earth Science, Outdoor Recreation, or Natural Resources Management (or equivalent).
• 3–5 years of environmental or outdoor leadership experience with experiential program delivery.
• Cooperative approach within a large organization; strong communication and organizational skills.
• Wilderness First Aid certification or ability to obtain; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with schools and youth organizations to plan outdoor programs.
• Promote, schedule, and teach day-long and residential programs with local schools and AMC facilities.
• Work with school trip organizers to tailor components meeting teacher needs; communicate plans to educators.
• Evaluate curricula and contribute to revision; manage field operations documentation and safety.
• Provide logistical support and professional development for field educators; assist during seasonal trainings.
