Job summary

Block by Block in New York is seeking a Cleaning Ambassador for weekday shifts from 8:00am to 3:00pm. The role features weekly pay, pay advances, and a chance to help keep public spaces clean and welcoming.

You will perform street-level cleaning, interact with pedestrians, remove litter and graffiti, and report safety concerns. Training is provided; applicants must be 18+ with a HS diploma or GED and able to work outdoors in all conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.

Responsibilities

• Provide high visibility at street level while performing cleaning tasks in the assigned zone.
• Acknowledge and engage pedestrians with friendly greetings to provide directions or city information.
• Litter removal and graffiti/poster removal from streets, sidewalks, and public areas.
• Pull weeds at tree wells, cracks in sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
• Monitor for unsafe behavior and report to Safety Ambassadors; complete simple daily task reports.
