Job summary

Williamsburg Learning offers a part-time Adventure Substitutes role for individuals enthusiastic about outdoor activities, leadership development, and mentoring youth. This position supports Adventures Leads and Guides, delivering engaging experiences for grades 6–12 within the Williamsburg Learning network.

Substitutes participate in 2–5 hour adventures on Fridays, earning PE credits while promoting critical thinking, discussion, and leadership skills in real-world settings.

Qualifications

• Outdoor and leadership experience preferred.
• Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to provide transformational mentoring to youth.
• Willingness to lead with authenticity, vulnerability, and integrity.
• Comfort using technology platforms like SIS, Canvas, Zoom, Remind, and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Facilitating Transformational Learning Experiences.
• Adventures Substitutes will be trained on the Williamsburg Adventures formula to infuse each experience with meaning.
• Inspire, Challenge, and Engage Students.
• Substitute to guide discussions, take attendance, and administer first aid as needed.
• Follow the Direction of Adventure Leads to Ensure Student Safety.
• Positively represent WL during all Activities / Trips.
• Extend influence to contribute to a sense of community.
