Job summary

The University of Akron is seeking a leader for the Outdoor Adventure program to oversee climbing wall operations, trip programming, equipment rentals, and risk management. The role supervises student staff, ensures safety standards, and develops inclusive outdoor experiences while managing program resources for student engagement and leadership development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in managing and providing instruction in recreational sports programming.
  • Experience supervising staff or students.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and facility management software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead staff recruitment, training, scheduling and evaluation of student employees.
  • Supervise indoor climbing wall and bouldering area operations with safety procedures.
  • Design, implement and evaluate outdoor adventure programming including trips and clinics.
  • Manage outdoor equipment rental program, inventory, purchasing and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Create and deliver special event programming and revenue-generating activities.
