Job summary

C&S Chemicals is seeking an experienced OTR Tanker Truck Driver to transport liquid bulk materials on regional and national routes from Bartow, FL. The role requires CDL-A, tanker and hazmat endorsements, and 24 months of verifiable OTR experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • CDL-A license (unrestricted) required.
  • Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements required.
  • At least 24 months verifiable commercial vehicle operating experience within last 36 months on similar equipment as used on public highways.
  • No more than three (3) Moving Violations in last 36 months.
  • No more than one (1) “Serious” Violation in last 36 months.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drives and operates trucks in accordance with all applicable laws and company policies.
  • Completes pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and maintains logs per USDOT regulations.
  • Wear PPE and follow safety SOPs for loading and discharging materials.
  • Uncouples and connects trailers and secures vehicles.
  • Checks load documentation, reads bills of lading, and verifies delivery instructions.
  • Performs basic vehicle maintenance and emergency roadside repairs.

The Role:

As an OTR Tanker Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous materials in liquid bulk tankers. Primary duties will include loading, transporting, and unloading materials at various locations while ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. OTR Drivers can expect to travel extended distances and be away from home for multiple days at a time. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Safely drives and operates trucks in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Follows all company and government‑mandated safety regulations and policies.
  • Completes all pre‑and post‑trip inspections in accordance with USDOT regulations and company policies. Utilizes electronic logging devices (ELD) to maintain hours of service logs in accordance with USDOT regulations.
  • Must wear PPE including, but not limited to, masks, gloves, chemical suits, boot coverings, eye, ear, and face protection, as required.
  • Follows appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP) for filling and discharging materials.
  • Couples or uncouples trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth‑wheel locks. Cranks trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles.
  • Checks all load‑related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Reads bills of lading (BOL) to determine assignment details. Collects delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs or tire chains.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
QualificationsWho You Are:
  • Willingness to put our customers first.
  • Capable of maneuvering vehicles and equipment in confined environments.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Key Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Class A CDL (unrestricted) required.
  • Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements required.
  • At least 24 months verifiable commercial vehicle operating experience within last 36 months operating similar equipment as type used on a public highway in interstate and/or intrastate commerce. Similar Equipment should include 5 axle articulated trailer equipment.
  • No more than three (3) Moving Violations in the last 36 months.
  • No more than one (1) “Serious” Violations in the last 36 months.
Working Conditions:
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, demonstrate driving techniques, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to pass and maintain a USDOT physical.
