Job summary

DSV in Houston, TX is seeking a licensed Class A CDL driver for over-the-road (OTR) open-deck hauling, including Conestoga trailers. You’ll transport freight across the United States, maintain DOT/FMCSR compliance, and ensure safe load securement and timely deliveries.

The role offers a competitive base pay with a CPM model ($0.65–$0.68) and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid orientation. Average weekly miles are 3,500–3,800.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL.
• DOT qualification requirements under FMCSR Part 391, including current DOT Medical Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years verifiable commercial driving in the past 4 years; 3+ years over-the-road preferred.
• TWIC card or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Experience with multiple trailer configurations and servicing ports or intermodal facilities preferred.
• Experience transporting open-deck, flatbed, or specialized freight preferred.
• Basic computer and ELD proficiency.
• Strong English language skills, reading, writing and speaking.
• Satisfactory motor vehicle record and employment history.
• No positive drug or alcohol test within the past five years.
• No DUI, DWI, reckless driving or major speeding violations within the past five years.
• No preventable accident involving bodily injury within the past three years.

Responsibilities

• Operate an open-deck tractor/trailer in interstate and intrastate commerce following DOT Hours of Service.
• Safely transport open-deck freight including oversized loads.
• Properly secure, strap, chain, tarp, and protect loads per regulations.
• Regularly inspect cargo securement and adjust as needed.
• Assist with loading/unloading freight when required.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain DOT/FMCSA compliance and company safety policies.
• Maintain electronic logs and shipping documentation.
• Plan efficient routes considering traffic and weather.
• Hook/unhook trailers and secure equipment.
• Fuel and perform basic preventative maintenance checks.
• Communicate with dispatch, customers, and operations staff.
• Participate in DOT drug and alcohol testing programs as required.
• Report equipment issues, delays, or cargo concerns promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and appearance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
